Privacy

What we store

If you make an account, we store your email address and a username. When you play signed in, we store your scores, your streaks and the history of the rounds you have played, so the leaderboards and your stats page work.

Play signed out and your guesses are still scored by our server, and the round itself is not saved — no account, no history, nothing to come back to. Google Analytics does record that a game was started and that a game was finished, and which of the nine it was, so we can tell whether people who arrive here actually play and whether they play to the end. That record holds no name, no email, and nothing about the questions or your answers.

If you send us a message or report a wrong stat, we store what you wrote and the email address you gave, so we can reply. A copy is emailed to us through Resend, the company that handles our mail. We do not sell any of this.

Cookies we set

Some to keep you signed in — a couple are written while you are signing in, before it has finished. Log out and they go away. Google Analytics sets its own to tell one visit from the next.

Two other companies' scripts run here. Google's serve the ads, described below, and measure how the site is used. Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the contact and report forms to check you are not a bot, which means Cloudflare sees your IP address when you use them.

Advertising

This site shows ads served by Google. Google and its partners use cookies to serve those ads and to measure whether anyone looked at them, and the ads you see may be based on your previous visits to this site or to others. None of the information above — your email, your scores, your history — is given to advertisers.

Measurement

We use Google Analytics to count visits, see which pages people land on, and see whether they go on to play a game or create an account. We also tell Google Ads when someone who arrived from one of our ads creates an account, so we can tell which ads were worth paying for.

This is about totals, not about you: we do not look up individuals, and none of it is joined to your email, your scores or your history.

Consent

Visitors in the UK, the EU and Switzerland are asked before any of the measurement above happens, and, when ads are running, before any personalised ad is served. They can change that answer whenever they like.

Children

BallKnower is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.

Deleting your data

Ask and it is deleted — your account, your scores, your history, and any messages or stat reports you have sent us. There is no retention period we are clinging to. Get in touch and it will be done.

Changes

If this changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it.
